Understanding Argument

Scholarship in our field, broadly defined here as English Studies, and more specifically as rhetoric and composition, is based on argument. Our intent is to persuade, to convince, through logic and with evidence.

The Limitations of Argument

For these authors, the biggest limitation of argument is that it participates in a power system that dichotomizes our experiences:
